From Farm to Floc - Bringing wool full circle at Lincoln University's Ivey West

Why wouldn't you  line your walls with something beautiful, natural, and high-performing, when you have the option now?

That question sits at the heart of this project, which saw Floc’s 100% New Zealand wool acoustic panels installed in the iconicIvey West Memorial Hall at Lincoln University. Severely damaged during theCanterbury earthquakes, the building has now been restored as a modern,future-focused learning space - one that prioritises sustainability, wellbeing, and cultural identity.

Floc was selected by TEAM Architects for its fire compliance (Group 1-S), natural sound absorption, breathability, and designflexibility. The panels were custom printed with artwork by Kaitiaki Studios, allowing the team to embed storytelling directly into the interior surfaceswhile meeting technical requirements for commercial use.

Made from strong wool grown on New Zealand farms,Floc panels offer a credible alternative to synthetics supporting both healthyindoor environments and a thriving rural sector.

From farm to fitout, this project proves that wool has a powerful place in the future of commercial design.
